Richard and Eric have spent hour upon hour spraying and trimming weeds, picking up trash and mowing areas in order to make Wayne County a more attractive and welcoming community. Then, they advocated with the Chamber and our elected officials to identify a long-term solution to the problem of weeds. Recently, the Richmond City Council members approved a budget allocating additional dollars to the Parks Department to maintain National Road and NW 5th Street beginning in 2022.
The Chamber was pleased to play a small role through our 501(c)3 organization – the Chamber Center for Excellence – collecting donations from several members and the EDC and Tourism to hire this work to be completed heading into this fall season. We are happy to report that these areas are now weed free!
