Update 7/7/2005-

Erie posted the following message on their website today:

 We have resumed full business operations. Key services and systems have been safely and securely restored and our local agents, claims teams and customer care teams have returned to regular ways of serving customers.

After a thorough forensics investigation conducted by independent cybersecurity specialists, there is no evidence that any sensitive personal information, financial records or legally protected data was breached by the threat actor during this incident.

For more than 100 years, Erie Insurance has taken pride in being there for customers when they need us most. We appreciate the teams who have been working tirelessly on recovery efforts, and the agents and employees who have been upholding our Above All in Service promise. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank You for Your Patience During the Erie Insurance Network Outage

Our agency would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our clients for your patience and understanding during the recent Erie Insurance network outage. We are pleased to announce that the network is up and running again. Access was restored at the end of last week, and our agents are diligently working through the backlog of tasks. Below are some frequently asked questions regarding billing:

When will EFT payments be withdrawn?

Any unpaid installments will be included with the insured’s next debit, and the amount due will be reflected on the debit withdrawal notice. To reduce the amount owed on the next EFT, a manual payment can be made. Manual payments can be made online at www.erieinsurance.com ,calling our office, or dropping off payment at our office. Please note that manual payments must be made 10 days prior to the withdrawal date.

The mobile app is another option for making your payment!

Will MedSupp Customers see a delay with EFT payment drafts?

IAS (MedSupp vendor) is now processing EFT payments. Any EFT payments that were delayed have also been processed.

Will there be a delay with MedSupp Claims payments?

MedSupp claims payments are now being processed. Any claims payments that were delayed have also been processed.

Are Customers able to make a Life Insurance payment?

Yes, ERIE Family Life payments are now being accepted and processed.

Update 6/27/2025-

Good news! The Erie Insurance network is back up and running! It has been a long 2 1/2 weeks and we truly appreciate your patience and support during the outage. Our staff is working diligently to work through the backlog of tasks that we currently have opened. If you have called our office to make a payment or a policy change during the outage, you will be hearing from us soon!

Here are the latest updates that we have received from Erie regarding unpaid installments:

Update 6/25/2025 –

Credit Card Payment Update: Erie Insurance has announced that Customer Care Operations are now working to accept Customer credit card payments over the phone, however, they are experiencing a significant increase in call volume.
We have been asked to tell our customers that they will likely experience longer than usual wait times. Customers should be prepared when they call ERIE with their policy number, payment amount and payment method. Customer Care Operations does not have the ability to make a pay plan change, waive fees, hold debits, or provide any updated bank account information.

CCO is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EST,
and can be reached by calling (800) 458-0811.

Please note you will NOT incur late charges for delayed payments during this system outage. Our office is still not able to accept credit card payments at this time. We are accepting cash and check payments.

Claims: Please call our office directly to report a claim 765-935-5655.

Erie Insurance is making big improvements this week regarding the network outage. They are currently working on resetting passwords for company representatives and now agents. Thank you again for your patience as Erie Insurance works diligently on recovering from this network outage.

Update 6/21/2025-

Erie Insurance has not posted any new updates since 6/17/25. We do know that they are in the process of resetting passwords for company representatives. We hope to have more information coming soon!!

Update 6/17/25-

ERIE, Pa. (June 17, 2025) – Erie Insurance today released an update regarding the company’s ongoing network outage and information security incident response:

Our teams — partnering with leading cybersecurity experts — continue working around the clock to restore access for customers, agents and employees. Unfortunately, incidents like this are becoming increasingly sophisticated and can impact even the most well-protected organizations. Upon detecting unauthorized activity, we took immediate action to contain the issue and have since implemented additional security measures to further strengthen our systems.

At this time, we have control of our systems. We have seen no evidence of ransomware and there is no indication of ongoing threat actor activity. We take these matters very seriously and are committed to providing updates as appropriate. We encourage customers to follow best practices around personal security and notify their financial institutions of any unusual activity.

During this outage, Erie Insurance will not contact customers by phone or email to request payments. As always, do not click on any links from unknown sources or share your personal information via phone or email.

While the protective actions the company initiated are ongoing, our local agents, claims and customer care teams continue to support our customers. Policyholders who need to initiate a claim can contact their local agent or ERIE’s First Notice of Loss team at (800) 367-3743. Customer Care is also available at (800) 458-0811.

While Erie Insurance is working on the resolution our VanVleet Insurance office is open and here to support our customers.

When will we know if data was compromised?

When will ERIE’s systems be back up?
The investigation into this event is ongoing. At this time, we don’t have an exact
estimate.

Has my personal information been compromised?
ERIE is working with law enforcement and are conducting a comprehensive forensic
analysis with the assistance of leading cybersecurity experts to gain a full understanding
of this event. They continue to take protective action for the security of its systems and
the investigation into this event is ongoing.

I received a phone call/email from someone claiming to be from Erie Insurance asking me to
pay my bill/share information/some other action.

During this outage, ERIE will not call or email customers to request payments or other
information. Do not click on any links from unknown sources or provide your personal
information by phone or email.

Am I still covered? Do I need to find a different carrier for my coverage?
Please rest assured that you are still protected by Erie Insurance. ERIE is a highly
reputable, trusted and longstanding insurance provider and we have full confidence that
this issue will be resolved fully and as quickly as possible

Will my Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payment be withdrawn?
● Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments for Property & Casualty policies will not be withdrawn
from Customer accounts during the outage. Further guidance will be shared once the
network outage is resolved.
● Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments for Erie Family Life policies are being
withdrawn from Customer accounts during the outage.

Will my policy be cancelled due to a payment not processing during the network outage?
● P&C: Policies will not be cancelled due to the EFT payment not processing or mailed
checks not being processed during the network outage.
● Life: Erie Family Life has extended its payment grace period to 30 days during the
outage, knowing that payments other than EFT may be delayed.

What do I do if I need to file a claim?

Please call our office at 765-935-5655 if you need to file a claim. Our VanVleet Insurance team is ready to assist!

We are writing today to inform you that Erie Insurance has announced a company-wide network outage of all of their systems (quoting, servicing, billing, claims, mobile app, etc..) The company released a statement today saying:

On Saturday, June 7, Erie Insurance’s Information Security team identified unusual network activity. We took immediate action to respond to the situation to safeguard our systems and data. Since Saturday, we have continued to take protective action for the security of our systems.

We are working with law enforcement and are conducting a comprehensive forensic analysis with the assistance of leading cybersecurity experts to gain a full understanding of this event.

The investigation into this event is ongoing. We will continue to provide updates as we have more information.

During this outage, Erie Insurance will not call or email customers to request payments. As is best practice, do not click any links from unknown sources or provide your personal information by phone or email.

Policy Changes

Call our office to report a policy change. Our team is logging all requests and will process them as soon as Erie’s systems are back up and running. Your current auto policy extends to newly purchased vehicles so this will not affect your coverage.

Billing

No payments can be processed in Erie at this time, please contact our office so that we can note your attempt to make payment. When Erie’s billing system is back up, we will call you back regarding the payment. During this outage, Erie Insurance will not call or email customers to request payments. Q: What if my payment is due during the outage?

A: Erie Insurance can not accept payments at this time. Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments WILL NOT be withdrawn from Customer accounts during the outage. Further guidance will be shared from Erie Insurance once the network outage is resolved.

Q: Will policies be cancelled for missed payments during the outage?

A: Policies WILL NOT be canceled due to the EFT payments or manual payments not processing. Additionally, Erie Family Life has extended its payment grace period to 30 days during the outage.

Q: Is Customer Care Operations open?

A: Yes, Erie Insurance Customer Care Operations is open from 8am-7pm to assist with some Customer inquiries. You can also call our office M-F 8am-5pm.

Q: Can I still submit a claim during this time?

A: Yes, please call our office! We can assist you. Erie Claims employees are working on existing and new claims to the best of their ability during the outage.
